June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress approved the design of a national flag. Congress described the flag with the words, “White signifies Purity and Innocence; Red, Hardiness and Valor; Blue signifies Vigilance, Perseverance and Justice." During 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation declaring June 14 Flag Day, and Americans have commemorated the adoption of the Stars and Stripes by celebrating June 14 as Flag Day.
June 14, Flag Day, is a great day to reflect upon the enormous significance of the Stars and Stripes and the many heroic Americans that defended all that our United States Flag represents.
