Once Known as Higher Education
Word has it that Columbia University as well as New York University will begin offering courses, for credit, in “Occupy the Field: Global Finance, Inequality, Social Movement” studies. The course said to be offered by the Anthropology Department at Columbia U offers “training in ethnographic research methods.” Professor Hannah Appel of Columbia will offer instruction to students interested in the course. Professor Appel is said to be a self-proclaimed “regular participant in the Occupy Movement,” and isn’t shy about describing her many nights in Zuccotti Park with Occupy.
Just imagine if you’re a parent spending tons of money hoping your kids will be educated because you’ve chosen schools of good reputation. Instead they’ve taken your money, misrepresented the focus of the institution and cheat you to boot. David Martosko of The Daily Caller reports that in Appels course at Columbia readings will include an essay from Paul Krugman, entitled “Revolutionary Tactics, Media Ecologies, and Repressive States, with more selected items from anarchist Emma Goldman and a book called “Post-Capitalist Politics.”
Come Blow Your Horn - In The Right Place!
The Walker Rally at Hart Park on Saturday, January 21, 2012 was attended by about three thousand people and one hundred who tried to disrupt the meeting. They paraded in front of the bandstand where speakers such as Tommy Thompson, Alberta Darling, Rebecca Kleefisch and many other notable were seated. It was an attempt to create tension. Unfortunately for them they were largely ignored. A real First Amendment right misdirected.
Blowing air horns, yelling obscenities while calling for “jobs” and making a nuisance of themselves they succeeded in showing those who were at the rally what a rude bunch they really are. Acting just like the children who nearly destroyed our State Capitol this past year their actions diminished the cause that they sought to portray. Is this what the state will gain if they succeed in their recall?
What's a Fair Share?
Mr. Obama in his State of the Union speech called for Fair Sharing so as to justify more taxes on those who create the jobs for us. To top it off Mrs. Obama was in a $2,400 cocktail dress at the event - to show her solidarity with those in need. Unfortunately, for our black neighbors in central cities, unemployment is at the horrendous rate of 47% or so. What can they share?
The President's White House staff is on board to do its share also. Reports in various media sources have indicated that the 457 members of his staff owe the federal government a whopping $833,970 in back taxes while on the government payroll to the tune of $37 million. Sources tell us that a third of the White House aids earn more than $100,000 per year and 21 of them are in the $172,000 range.
