State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.
May Is American Stroke Month
I received an email from an American Heart Association/American Stroke Association volunteer reminding me that May is American Stroke Month. The email letter below lists warning signs.
Dear Senator Mary Lazich:
As a constituent and an American Heart Association/American Stroke Association volunteer, I am writing to remind you that May is American Stroke Month and a great time to learn or re-learn the warning signs of a stroke and learn healthy steps to preventing a stroke. Please share this information with your constituents and help us build awareness during stroke month.
Stroke is the No. 4 killer of men AND women nationwide and in Wisconsin, with more than 2,000 Wisconsin residents dying each year from stroke. Stroke is also a leading cause of serious long-term disability in Wisconsin and nationwide.
Warning Signs of a Stroke can include:
" Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
" Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
" Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
" Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
" Sudden, severe headache with no known cause
If you or someone you know experiences any of the above warning signs, call 9-1-1 immediately and seek medical help.
