Our Great Unifier

Once again our present President has put his foot in his mouth and created an unnecessary firestorm. The case in Florida illustrates very clearly what a racist he is. He has jumped into this killing of a young man in Florida with personal invective and shameless bigotry.  In taking sides before the facts are in he might have given strength to the two poverty pimps, Sharpton and Jackson, to jump into the fray. And our Great Unifier is strangely silent when his Black Panther Party has put out a million dollar bounty on the shooter. It seemed as if every politician who was black found some way to make himself/herself heard – again before all the facts were in.  Juan Williams and a few others didn't follow suit. Kudos to them.

A year earlier in Florida two British young men were murdered by a man, who according to some news reports, showed no shame or personal remorse for his deeds. This past week he was sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing the two visitors in Florida. The dead men were white;  the murderer  is black.

The parents of the two young men who were killed reportedly have written or contacted the White House several times since their sons were killed in April, 2011. To this date and throughout the trial of the man who killed them the parents got no response from the White House. Many pundits have expressed the opinion that he injected himself into this situation in Florida in hopes that he would take the collective minds of Americans off his sorry national record as our president.  As his one-time side-kick and present Mayor of Chicago used to say a crisis is a terrible thing to waste, or something close to that affect. He'll use a timely tragedy when he finds it useful.

Recall that several years ago he subjected a police department to ridicule and a white cop for doing his duty because he tried to protect someone’s property? Our Great Unifier took the cop and all but had him ready to hang because this Harvard professor was black. Our president ended up with egg on his face and tried to smooth things over with a beer on the White House lawn for the two men. Yet when it doesn’t suit his needs he’s very capable of ignoring huge events.

Have you noticed that the muslim Captain in the Army who murdered a handful of soldiers at Fort Hood hasn’t been brought to trial. How long ago was that? News about that incident was low on our leader’s scope at the time. He barely recognized it and said very little and was not too alarmed about it. None of the men or women who died at Fort Hood looked like they were a “son” of his.

As this terrible incident in Florida seems to be winding down with the news media spending less time on it our leader has to fashion another situation to take our minds off his administration. As the First Lady and her two daughters have embarked on their 17th vacation trip since 2008 and plenty of Americans are wondering if they’ll have to choose between gasoline or food stuffs the ladies are off to Vegas. You know the place: “What happens here stays here.”  We’re not supposed to notice.

So we probably won’t notice they’re on another expensive trip as many of us see our goods and services rising in price because of the cost of living he’s found another scape goat to blame. This time it’s big oil, and their obscene profit of 2 cents per gallon they earn. Our president doesn’t want us to talk about and know what a disaster his Obamacare has become. He must fear that it will be struck down as unconstitutional. He needs something to divert our attention. If he can get the Catholics and taxpayers who agree with them on his “mandates” to forget and worry more about gas prices he’ll have accomplished a great deal he most likely thinks.

Sorry, Mr. President you’ve shut down the pipeline from Canada, you’ve stifled the exploration in the gulf, you’ve denied exploration in huge fields of oil and gas in our country, you’ve wasted billions on Solyndra and other so-called green energy fiascos that we have a hard time forgetting. We won’t forget your hope and change. There's no hope and little change. Creating a crisis among races and nationalities is not why you are in office. A competent leader unifies and units, he doesn't divide.
