Observations

Ray McInerny, Sr., and his wife Jean, have lived in New Berlin for 32 years.  A retired graphic artist, he now paints for his own enjoyment. This blog will attempt to present items of general interest to his New Berlin neighbors.

Too Much Rhetoric - Too Few Facts

All of us tend to quote and re-quote that with which we agree. Fairly soon we’re so engrossed that our theme becomes showy and elaborate. Facts and truth soon give way to hyperbole.

For instance we’ve witnessed several quotations from a Fr. Massengale which weakly claim Catholic support of the so-called grievances of the Madison hoodlums. The one who cites him forgot or ignored the "Catholic teaching’s pro-union bias," article from the same newspaper by Fr. Sirico of the Acton Institute of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Is Protest or Anarchosyndicalism in Play?

Is this a radical political movement, orchestrated by outsiders, that wreaks havoc on our state? The "peaceful protestors" as they call themselves are hell-bent on destroying our form of government. The damage and ruination of our beautiful Capital Building is just the beginning. The thrust of this vile hatred displayed by a few agitators is a clear signal of their intent.

Monday evening, at the Wauwatosa Library, these "peaceful protestors" yelled and made all kinds of racket while Congressman Sensenbrenner and Senator Vukmir tried to hold a town hall meeting. The Librarian asked them more than several times to keep the noise down as others were using the library as a study and reading area. They wouldn’t keep quiet, they wouldn’t act as adults so the Congressman adjourned the town hall meeting. He had to as the catcalls and yells were intended to stifle his voice. So much for freedom of speech. Some protest?

A Chaos of Misdirection

When children act up and demand all the attention, it can cause tension. As they grow older, and if they’re never taught to curb their animal instincts trouble really looms on the horizon. If they continue a path of always demanding their way, throwing tantrums, and if no direction is given to teach them to “share,” as it were, what’s the result? Chaos! We’ve just helped develop a person hell-bent on destroying anything in his way - if he doesn’t get what he wants. The makings of a real bully.

The people in Madison who sat through this whole month doing the state’s business are doing so because they were voted into office, or hold legitimate jobs in government. We voted and expected them to implement laws and rules that create a better life for us. When they do that they perform their lawful duties. The fourteen who skipped town neglected their duties. Then a whole deluge of animal behavior descended on our Capitol. These mass of plunderers almost ruined the whole place. Oh, they’ll tell how they’ve tried to clean it, etc., but that rings hollow when you see the condition of the lawn, not just the building. Chaos again!

April Fifth We Can't Fool Around

Jesse’s back. Chicago is happy to get rid of him. He’s the tool that promised all the blacks in Chicago that he’d put Carol Mosley Brown in as Mayor of Chicago. What happened? His importance got her less than 5% of the total vote and only 9% of the black vote. Do the same kind of magic here in Wisconsin Jesse. Hopefully the fawning will soon realize that your presence does nothing for them. Is there anything worse than an old has-been running around the state pretending he’s relevant?

What an April Fools Joke he is.
