The IFF consultant firm hired by the New Berlin school district put the total cost of necessary District facility improvements at $25 million —with Eisenhower and Glen Park Schools needing the most work. IFF recommended closing a school. Reportedly, closing Glen Park could save an estimated $300,000 per year, and selling could save $500,000. $4 million to fix Glen Park? How interesting. A 2008 consultant report had the cost to restore Glen Park at around $8 million. And per the April 2011 NOW: ” just replacing the worn-out electrical system, environmental system and plumbing would seem to not cost that much - about $3.1 million, according to the 2008 report. But doing those projects also means that the school would have to upgrade its fire protection system and comply with federal requirements for those with disabilities, Pulliam said. Upgrading fire protection would add $211,365, according to the report. The cost for complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act is unknown at this point, Pulliam said. Once work starts, the whole building would have to be brought up to current international building codes, Pulliam said - and that's complex and expensive. "Everything in there is really needed," he said of the $8 million estimate.”

District of NB Parent-Teacher Conferences
The District of New Berlin’s Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences at Eisenhower and NB West were scheduled for a Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 16, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. For many parents, that means taking time off work to attend the conferences. In previous years, the Parent-Teacher Conferences were held at night.
Since there is no union contract in place, this decision was the administration and the district’s. Obviously, it results in less opportunity for parents to interact with teachers.
