Conservatively Speaking

State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.

Hales Corners Veterans Memorial Ground Breaking

The Hales Corners Veterans Memorial ground breaking ceremony was yesterday, Sunday, September 11, 2011.  I joined the ranks of several speakers for the event with a couple hundred attending.

American Legion Post 299 World War II Veteran Howard Hingiss and Eagle Scout candidate Mitchell McGlinn of Boy Scout Troop 598 are guiding the project.  Organizers secured 96 percent of the funds to construct the Memorial, thanks in large part to two $25,000 matching grants from the Holz Foundation and the Messmer Foundation.  Funds will continue to be secured through the purchases of personalized bricks. You may purchase a brick at this website.

Don Schwartz was the master of ceremonies and Plunkett Raysich Architects and Hunzinger Construction contributed to the design of the Memorial.  You may view the design here.
