Dead People's Names on Wisconsin Voter Lists

Opponents of voter ID law claim there is not proof that people are voting illegally. Their proof is few felony convictions.

During the Senate Committee on Transportation and Elections Voter ID Public Hearing a former Milwaukee police detective testified voter fraud is one of the hardest crimes to track, because there is not a paper trail.

The Wisconsin Reporter, an online news organization covering Wisconsin, has a report out today that more than 1,000 deceased people are still on Wisconsin voter lists.  It does not take a genius to figure out votes could be fraudulently cast for dead people, and that the public would likely never know the illegal votes were cast.

One thousand people is a fraction of Wisconsin’s total voting-age population.  However, a look at recent electoral results reveal that is enough to determine an election.

Wisconsin’s voter ID law is intended to ensure legitimate votes, and only legitimate votes, are included in election counts.  The voter ID law provides generous measures to ensure voters are not disenfranchised.  Names of the deceased do not belong on poll lists.
