Ray McInerny, Sr., and his wife Jean, have lived in New Berlin for 32 years. A retired graphic artist, he now paints for his own enjoyment. This blog will attempt to present items of general interest to his New Berlin neighbors.
"For no people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders." Samuel Adams, 1775
Governments that promise too much, too easily, end up controlling lives. Preying on our apathy and ignorance they promise everything and we debauch ourselves thinking it's theirs to give. Less thoughtful and virtuous people are easy prey because their moral vigilance is wanting. Seduced from morality, allegiance or duty we're powerless to resist the punitive laws that are perpetually enacted to "correct" our behavior. Enacted by government edict, not through moral principles the result is an orgy of decay that infects our lives.
Taxpayers protesting against Socialized Health Care, Cap and Trade legislation and excessive taxation has the White House springing into action on a website entitled; firstname.lastname@example.org.
The purpose is to have people “snitch” on their neighbors if they see what is termed as “fishy”communications (emails, etc.) concerning health insurance reform. (Anyone who might disagree with present attempts to “take over” health insurance).
Below is a true story about a fight against cancer, and an indictment against the Obama so-called health "reform" package. If Mr. Obama could honestly tell us what is in his bill we would be better able to make judgements on what he wants us to do. His lack of clarity on this issue and ineptness in outlining details of this "reform" creates the climate of distrust seen in the town hall meetings. Unfortunately for Mr. Obama and the Democrats they've come to find out all the protestors are not "right-wing" extremists - but members of their own party; in large numbers.
Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts, most likely one of the most prolific legislators of our time has gone on to become judged by the Creator. There is no need to produce a litany of his sins; recount them in gory detail; too many are still fresh in our minds.
Accept him for what he was. Fantastic as a skilled senator. Unafraid to stick with his principles. Undaunted by crticism when he new what he wanted.
