State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.

Fiscal Bureau: Budget would leave state with surplus

The non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau today released an analysis of the state budget approved by the Legislative Joint Finance Committee.  According to the Fiscal Bureau analysis, the budget includes a $306 million structural surplus.

This is truly amazing.  The state began the 2011-2013 budget cycle facing a $3 billion deficit.  The Republican budget eliminates that deficit and begins the next cycle with a $306 million surplus and without increasing taxes and fees.

While there will be adjustments to the budget before a final vote, the Legislature will pass a budget this week that is an excellent step to making Wisconsin a great place to live, work and play.
