State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.

Capitol Police provide information for visitors

Capitol Police provide the following information:  

Capitol Access

  • The Capitol is open 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • The North Hamilton Street doors and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. doors will be open to access the building. Persons with physical disabilities can enter through the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.entrance.
  • Visitors entering the Capitol will be screened.
  • The following items cannot be brought inside the Capitol:
    • Signs on sticks
    • Bull horns, whistles, drums and other noise makers
    • Tape for posting signs
    • Tents and/or sleeping bags
    • Weapons
  • The following items are allowed inside the Capitol:
    • Bottles of water
    • Signs (not on sticks and they cannot be posted on the Capitol walls)


  • Camping is not permitted on the Capitol grounds.


  • It will be hot and humid today with temperatures reaching near 90 in Madison.  Chance of thunderstorms later in the day.
