New Berlin Citizens for Responsible Government (NBCRG) endorsed Don Counsell for alderman in 2007.
Counsell got into a barroom brawl before the spring election, was tazered, arrested, charged with battery.

According to the City Clerk, there are 31, 695 registered voters in the City of New Berlin. She told me there are 3,828 in Aldermanic District 2, 4,448 in District 4, and 4,093 in District 6. (The total in those 3 districts exceeds 12,000)
I heard that the March 19 candidate forum put on by the Rotary Club had a very low turnout. I didn’t attend, but watched a DVD of the forum at the public library last Friday. Contrary to what was announced at the forum, the library had only one DVD copy, so it couldn’t be checked out. I wasn’t surprised to learn from library personnel that few people had been in to watch the DVD.
They've Been Ducking Questions Regarding District Funds & Spending
The leadership of the New Berlin School District does not seem to share Laura Karvala’s attitude/ philosophy concerning open government and informing constituents.
Karvala, who was elected District 2 alderman on April 5, told the community that she’d be as transparent as legally possible. She asserted that “ if there is a question or something you want to find out”, she will “go to the source”. Karvala also stressed that it was important for people to be “engaged”.
NB School Board Treasurer---Clueless?

The Lazich Recall
Hundreds of people turned out for a rally in New Berlin on Saturday, April 9 to drum up support for the recall effort against Sen. Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) and other Republican senators, and to raise concerns about the vote-counting problems in Waukesha County, according to the Journal Sentinel.
The rally was held outside New Berlin City Hall. The CBS 58 News Website has a video of it. .The Wisconsin State AFL-CIO describes the rally as the “ largest demonstration of its kind in New Berlin history”. It displays a picture of the rally event on its Website.
New Yorkers Raise Questions and Concerns About Paul Kreutzer

“Katonah-Lewisboro School District, Westchester, NY April 21, 2011 ---The KLSD Board of Education shocked community members, faculty and school staff when they announced—during spring vacation—that controversial Wisconsin superintendent Dr. Paul Kreutzer was about to be hired for a five-year term at a salary of $245,000. Dr. Kreutzer recently made the news as the only Wisconsin superintendent to stand with Gov. Walker and endorse his controversial state budget, stating the budget, which cuts nearly $1 billion in education funding, was in fact good for education.
Superintendent Kreutzer---Tool or Opportunist?
Dr. Paul Kreutzer (New Berlin school district) was the only superintendent to stand with Walker at his March news conference and speak in support of Walker's much-criticized budget-repair bill which curtails public employees’ collective bargaining rights. Walker has argued that his controversial bill gives school districts the tools they need.
What a sham. We now know that Kreutzer had been seeking employment outside our state and that he, his wife, and their young school-age child are getting out of Wisconsin pronto.
