Elections Today!
Inside New Berlin has been a Community Voices regular blog on New Berlin NOW for several years. During that time, I have blogged about many different issues, including political topics.
But let’s be clear: Inside New Berlin is my blog—it reflects my viewpoint. It is not a political action committee or group’s blog.
Congratulations X 3
I’d like to thank the candidates who participated in the 2010 Elections. We appreciate and applaud your willingness to serve. Congratulations to all of the 2010 Election winners.
Speaking of winners, on March 27, the Eisenhower Lions Girls Basketball Team won their first-ever state title. That’s awesome. Congratulations New Berlin Eisenhower Girls Basketball--- the Division 2 State Champions!

Wisconsin’s tax ranking drops to lowest levels in 49 years-
Earth Day
Today marks the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day.
The late Sen. Gaylord Nelson was the founder of Earth Day. A dedicated public servant, Nelson served 10 years in the Wisconsin Senate, was the 35th governor of Wisconsin, and served 18 years in the U.S. Senate.
Reflecting on the Election
The 2010 New Berlin School Board election was an uncontested race because there were three open seats and three candidates—Keith Hastings, Tom David, and incumbent John Kegel.
However, 77 write-in votes were cast (as reported on the City of New Berlin’s Web site).
Re: Mandating Extra-Curricular Activities
Doesn’t the School District of New Berlin realize there is a big difference between encouraging activity and mandating it?
Its proposal to require student participation in an extra-curricular activity to graduate has raised numerous concerns and not suprisingly, gotten little if any public support.
