Observations
Ray McInerny, Sr., and his wife Jean, have lived in New Berlin for 32 years. A retired graphic artist, he now paints for his own enjoyment. This blog will attempt to present items of general interest to his New Berlin neighbors.
A Watchful Eye
Some in the Senate continue to thwart the will of the people. A case in point. Recently nineteen Senators voted to censor The Internet. Hopefully, it appears there is little chance that this bill will be passed during this session. As if there aren’t enough laws in place to “protect” us from content that infringes on our rights and liberties. No, this stellar group had to take it upon itself to vote for a new form of censorship. Our right to freely express ourselves electronically.
If a vote such as this doesn’t speak to the valid proposition that these people need to “serve” on a part-time basis nothing will. Hanging around Washington, D.C. for years on end only separates them from the constituency they were hired to serve. The elaborate lifestyles they’ve provided for themselves while seeking ways to limit our liberties is contemptible. A list of the nineteen poorly advised Senators is listed below.
Jeff Session Alabama
Jon Kyl Arizona
Chris Coons Delaware
Chuck Schumer New York
Dick Durbin Illinois
Chuck Grassley Iowa
Benjamin L. Cardin Maryland
Al Franken Minnsesota
Amy Klobuchar Minnesota
Tom Coburn Oklahoma
John Cornyn Texas
Orrin G. Hatch Utah
Patrick J. Leahy Vermont
Herb Kohl Wisconsin
Russ Feingold Wisconsin
As holiday travelers; Nuns, elderly women, young children and some disabled, were being groped and fondled prior to getting on a plane this busy Thanksgiving time this grand group of representatives stayed mostly mute to this situation. They’re only attuned to making life comfortable for themselves. As we’ve noticed so many times new laws and restrictions never seem to apply to the Congress. I haven’t checked it thoroughly but it seems as if this group of politicians are the first to vote on censoring speech.
You’ll notice this vote wasn’t a particular party’s rant but an almost equal number of members on both sides of the aisle. It's intended laws like this that gave birth to the Tea Party Movement, and will continue to add reasons for the Party’s existence. Any person of any political party that continues to try diminish the rights and privileges of American Citizens will remain in the cross hairs of the Tea Party.
The Tea Party will be assisted by us if we continue to make the representatives do the job they were sent to do, or remove them regardless of party. Groups with no love for our Constitution are constantly seeking ways to deprive us of our rights - and create a third world type of society here in America. Not if we keep a watchful eye.
