Conservatively Speaking

State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.

Senate Republicans name Joint Finance members

Majority Leader Senator Scott Fitzgerald named the team that will serve on the Joint Committee on Finance.  They are:

  • Sen. Alberta Darling of River Hills, co-chair;
  • Luther Olsen of Ripon, vice co-chair;
  • Sheila Harsdorf of River Falls;
  • Joe Leibham of Sheboygan;
  • Glenn Grothman of West Bend;
  • Randy Hopper of Fond du Lac.

As readers are well aware, the state faces an approximate $2.5 billion budget deficit, and a recent tradition of glossing over massive overspending and falling revenues with gimmicks, tricks, tax increases, borrowing, and one-time money.  We simply cannot continue down this irresponsible road.  Governor-elect Walker and the Joint Committee on Finance have their work cut out for them.  I and the rest of the Republican team stand ready to assist and support.
